Green World Hotels Group Targets Post-Pandemic International Tourism Boom with Green Energy Initiative and RE100 Commitment

With optimism about the booming international tourism market in the post-pandemic era, Green World Hotels Group (8077), which operates 13 hotels in Taipei, anticipates a significant rebound in performance driven by the return of Japanese and Chinese tourists. Beyond strengthening its hospitality business, Chairman Hsieh Hsien-Chih announced that the group is actively implementing sustainability strategies. On December 25, Green World Hotels signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hua-Rui Green Energy, committing to a 10-year purchase of 300 million kWh of renewable electricity, marking a major step toward achieving the RE100 goal.

Over the next decade, the group will fully transition to green electricity while continuing to encourage guests to use public transportation, demonstrating its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and supporting environmental sustainability. Since 2018, Green World has been a pioneer in Taiwan's hospitality industry's digital transformation, introducing innovations such as luggage-delivery robots and self-service check-in kiosks. Chairman Hsieh emphasized that the partnership with Hua-Rui Green Energy will enhance the group's green energy infrastructure, aligning with the global tourism trend toward environmental sustainability and reinforcing both service quality and environmental responsibility.

Hua-Rui Green Energy, with years of expertise in renewable energy such as solar power, has established long-term collaborations in projects combining energy generation with agriculture and aquaculture. Hua-Rui’s Chairman, Chen Chien-Hung, an independent director at Fubon Financial, brings extensive financial and industry expertise to the company. Executive Director Wang Xiao-Fang highlighted that Hua-Rui's dual long-term contracts with renewable energy projects and enterprises ensure stable green energy supply and funding, helping businesses meet RE100 and carbon reduction goals.

This successful partnership with Green World Hotels offers a range of green energy collaboration models, including long-term green power purchase agreements and renewable energy certificates, accelerating Green World's sustainability initiatives and environmental commitments.
