#NUWA ROBOTICS
The 7th Qualcomm Innovation Competition Taiwan (QITC) is now open for applications until February 28, 2025, with this year’s focus on the field of Edge AI applications. Qualcomm encourages Taiwan's startups to leverage Qualcomm’s AI technology and platforms to propose innovative solutions across various devices, including mobile devices, PCs, automobiles, smart wearables, and IoT terminals, aiming to bring AI closer to everyday needs. Teams that qualify will undergo a six-month incubation program, including technical support, mentorship, strategic training, and funding. Additionally, they will gain opportunities to expand into global markets through Qualcomm's international ecosystem.
Since its inception in 2019, QITC has successfully nurtured 59 Taiwanese startup teams, resulting in 433 patent applications and integrating 10 teams into the Qualcomm Advantage Network, making them part of Qualcomm’s global commercial ecosystem. Notably, Nuwa Robotics, the winner of the third competition, has demonstrated Taiwan’s strong capability in combining hardware and software with its exceptional work in AI humanoid robots.
Qualcomm Vice President and President of Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, ST Liew, emphasized the disruptive innovation potential of Edge AI, which can rapidly enable the practical application of AI technologies. Qualcomm will continue to cultivate Taiwan’s ecosystem, leveraging over 15 years of AI research and development to support its startup partners. Sudeepto Roy, Qualcomm’s VP of Engineering and Head of Global Ecosystem Development Programs, highlighted that QITC provides comprehensive resources and technical assistance to help Taiwanese startups stand out in the growing wave of AI development. The goal is to create sustainable and efficient edge AI solutions for various industries that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and prioritize privacy and security.
